Scratched onto a piece of paper for years, this recipe is easy and rarely misses--even for a kitchen-challenged cook like me. Plus, you get all of the vegetables in the bargain.

DateCreated on : 05-05-2007

Ingredients ( 6 )

  • Chuck Roast
  • Flour
  • Black Pepper
  • Garlic (I use the chopped garlic that comes in a jar)
  • Large Onion
  • 2 or 3 potatoes
  • Carrots
  • 1/2 cup water or beef broth
  • Jar of gravy. Consider Mushroom gravy.
  • 1 tblsp Canola Oil or vegetable oil

Directions

  1. Cut slits in the Chuck Roast and push garlic into the slots.
  2. Coat the roast with flour and pepper.
  3. Heat the oil in a frying pan 'til hot. Sear the roast on both sides just enough to tighten up the outside. This will help lock in the meat's juices.
  4. Place the roast in a crock pot with the onion.
  5. Cook for 3-4 hours.
  6. Add the carrots in the last hour.
  7. Add the Potatoes in the last 20 minutes.
  8. Add jar of gravy in last 20 minutes.
