Beefkerutuk

Kelantan style beef curry. Match with briyani rice or normal rice.

Ingredients ( 5 )

  • 500g beef (cubed)
  • 4 tablespoons kerutuk paste
  • 2 teaspoons chili boh (blended chile)
  • 1/2 big onion
  • 3 cups thick coconut milk
  • 2 tablespoons black soy sauce
  • 1/2 pcs palm sugar (gula melaka)
  • 2 tablespoons kerisik (pounded dry-fried grated coconut)
  • Ingredients A (to be fried):-
  • 1/2 big onion
  • 1/2 inch ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 star anise
  • 3 cloves
  • 3 cardamom
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil

Directions

  1. Clean beef and toss it.
  2. Blend 1/2 big onion, ginger and garlic together then add kerutuk paste
  3. Fry ingredients A until fragrant
  4. Add the mixture of blended big onion, ginger,garlic and kerutuk paste
  5. Fry again until fragrant and oil separates
  6. Add beef and coconut milk then cook until beef turns tender and the gravy turns thick and dry
  7. Lastly add black soy sauce, salt, palm sugar and kerisik. Leave it for 5-10 minutes then ready to serve
